The medical evaluation of a patients presenting with headache syndromes is performed to discover if there is an underlying condition that might be causing the migraines.  Once the evaluation is complete we strive to utilize tools to minimize the frequency, duration and severity of migraines.  Other problems, such as pain syndromes, anxiety and sleep disorders sometimes come along with migraines.  If present, we also need to treat these conditions to accomplish our goal of minimizing migraines and maximizing quality of life.  There has been significant advancements in the treatment of migraine headaches over the last 5 years.
